The commonest symptoms of heart disease include chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, blackouts and palpitations. Dr Broyd is also an expert in caring for patients with known heart disease conditions such as coronary artery disease, valve disease or atrial fibrillation. If you are also concerned about your heart or have a family history of cardiac disease Dr Broyd can help assess and manage your current health status and provide advice, guidance and treatment to minimise your future risk.

Dr Broyd offers a variety of diagnostic tests including ECG, echocardiography (heart ultrasound), exercise stress testing, 24- and 48-hour ECG monitoring, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI. Dr Broyd will provide a bespoke service for requesting tests rather than 'blanket testing' for your individual requirements ensuring swift and efficient diagnosis.

Dr Broyd is highly skilled in coronary angioplasty (stent implantation). With his advanced training his is able to use the more complex tools as required such as rotablation and lithotripsy if necessary. He is also a structural heart disease operator and undertakes TAVI procedures (key-hole valve surgery) along with closing holes in heart (PFO closure).

Chris qualified from Guy's, King's and St. Thomas' medical school in 2003. He began training in cardiology in 2007 and has worked accross some of the most prestigious cardiac centres in London including the Hammersmith Hospital, the Royal Free and Harefield Hospital. He was awarded a PhD from Imperial College in 2015. During his training he undertook two fellowships learning advanced skills in coronary angioplasty (stent implantation) at Hospital Clinico San Carlos in Madrid and then training in sructural heart disease intervention at Bart's Hospital.

Dr Broyd has also worked as a consultant in Queensland Australia for 3 years which has provided a depth of training not achievable within the UK. He is one of the few individuals to have been awarded consultant level qualifications in both the UK and Australia. In addition Dr Broyd has a keen interest in academia and has held an associate Professor position at Griffith University (QLD). Dr Broyd now holds an NHS position as a consultant cardiologist at University Hospital Sussex as well as seeing private patients at the Nuffield Hospital in Brighton.
